At Words of the Earth, we are dedicated to celebrating narratives that reflect the beauty and challenges of our planet. Our reviews aim to highlight literature that explores the connection between humanity and Earth, whether grounded in reality, set in speculative futures, or anything beyond and in between.

Review Criteria

• Rating System: Starting in 2024, we will only write reviews of books we love. Thus, from the year onward, we will publish only reviews of books that receive a 5 out of 5-star rating from us.
• Honesty in Reviews: Our reviews are honest and reflect our perspectives, but we understand that readers’ interpretations can vary.

Requesting a Review

• Eligibility: Everyone can request a review. However, we will only do one review per book and one book per author.
• Book Formats: We require a PDF copy of a book for us to review it. Submitting a request or providing a book copy does not guarantee that we will write a review.
• Submission Process: To request a review, please use our submission form at the bottom of this page. We do not respond to email requests for reviews.
• Preferred Genres: We prefer books that best align with our site’s core themes and objectives, which encompass both fiction and non-fiction. For more information on our themes, please read our About Us page.
• Unpaid Reviews: We do not charge fees for our book review service.
• Resubmission Guidelines: If a review has not been published on our website or shared on our social media channels within 12 months, you may submit another request again.

Feedback and Awards

• Private Feedback: Other than the published review for those books rated with 5 out of 5 stars, we do not automatically provide feedback. For private feedback or to explore other review services, we recommend checking out The Chrysalis BREW Project’s website. • Book of the Earth Award: From time to time, we choose winners for our Book of the Earth Award – books that stand out and deserve more than 5 out of 5 stars. More details about this award can be found here.

Our Mission

Words of the Earth aims to be the voice of our planet and its potential, highlighting narratives that explore the past, present, and future of our relationship with Earth. We celebrate stories that inspire hope, innovation, and a deeper understanding of our responsibilities toward our environment and each other.

If we cannot find a reviewer for your book in this platform, we will submit it for consideration of our other participating platforms’ reviewers also at no cost to you. Kindly note that, for us to help as many deserving authors as possible, we limit our free service to a maximum of 1 review per book across all our participating platforms, 1 book per author, and 1 author per publisher/organization/company. Thus, if you already requested a free service from us before, please do not submit another request as your new request will be automatically cancelled. However, if your previous request was made more than 12 months ago and we have not published a review of your book, please feel free to lodge a new request.
